Peanut Butter Cookies

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

I just wanted to share with you guys that lately my daughter and I have been on a baking high! Hahaha! See she would always ask me to bake cookies with her but I never wanted too because I knew I would end up eating them all. How selfish of me right.

Well finally last week I decided to stop being so selfish. We were over at a friend's house and her daugther who's 9 baked cookies all by herself and had her own recipe book. So ofcourse my daughter was so amazed by this and wanted to get her own recipe book as soon as possible and wanted to start baking as soon as we got home.

Well the next day we found a recipe for sugar cookies. They were a little burnt but not bad for our first try. Since I was off the wagon I had plenty of them!

Then yesterday since she was off of school we decided to make peanut butter cookies. Well we were missing 2 ingredients so we bundle eachother up including my 2 year old, and walked about 10 blocks to the store. So happy to say we got some exercise in before baking! Pretty good! Then after we came home and got right to it.

And the awesome part is that I only ate one. I feel so proud of myself for 2 reasons.
#1. I didn't deprive myself. I didn't get so crazy with myself that I didn't allow myself to enjoy myself too!
#2. I had self control. I didn't let my sweet tooth control me. I controled my decisions and ate one. And afterwards didn't allow any negative thinking or guilts.

So I think this is the beggining of many more happy bakings!!!!!!!!!

Your peanut butter cookies look great! And, I'm glad that you were able to approach baking them and eating them with such a healthy attitude. Good for you, babe. Sometimes when I have baked goods around the house--my mom bakes them for us and sends them all the way from Iowa, Oh my goodness!--I eat them too fast. I find that if I give myself permission to completely enjoy them when I do it one, emphasis on the ONE, then I am less likely to binge on the cookies. Usually the binging is just me eating my anxiety but sometimes acknowledging where each of my eating behavior is coming from is a good place to start teaching myself how to approach food other ways when I am under stress or bored and do not handle things well.

Yum, those look so good! Last night, I was kinda bad. I ate at least one dark chocolate square and one truffle. I think it's better to satisfy the craving than to ignore it. Good for your self control! Your kids are adorable!
