Holy Embarrassment Batman!

So, I have the day off from work today....and me, feeling like I don't want to laze the whole day away tried my 30 Day Shred video....... I stopped it in tears. I can't do jumping stomach feels like it's going to rip absolutely embarrassing!! Well, I guess doing those videos is a goal to work toward now too. I will continue to eat right, walk at the treadmill at the gym and do strength exercises, then when my horrible body is more accustomed to moving around, then I can do those videos.

I just can't believe my body has gotten to this point. Once I get my health back, I will NEVER let it get this bad again!!!

    When I do a video that has a part that I absolutely can't do - first I try to see if I can modify the move in anyway - you'll still get your heart rate up if you just take a step to the side and raise your arms, or just walk in place until the next move. Just go at your own pace. The important thing is to keep moving. :-)

    I think jumping jacks are still hard. I'd go with JAMGIRL8's suggestion. Keep your feet on the floor or do a modified step to the side or marching in place while you swing your arms. Whole body movements like this are great for getting your heart rate up, which is why they are so hard.
    It won't take long and you'll be very impressed by how far you've come!

    I absolutely hate jumping jacks and I get mad at Jillian every time she says "I have 450 pound people doing jumping jacks, there is no modification for jumping jacks". Yeah, have 3 children naturally, Jill, and still tell me how much you love jumping jacks. Just keep moving and we'll get there eventually!

    Try to just focus on the exercises that you can do now, the ones that make you push yourself but are still comfortable to do.

    Try not to think of your body as horrible! It will get you where you need to go!

    I like the idea of jumping jacks in the water.

    I totally understand. I HATE jumping jacks. I feel like my belly is bouncing all over the place. Ugghh!!! I do find it helps if I suck in and tighten my abs while jumping. Still don't like them though! Hang in there!

    Keep on keepin' on! I have a lot of setbacks with fitness due to chronic illness. It will eat away at me if I let it (and I have on occasion). Then it dawned on me that there are two sides to every coin and now choose to see my fitness as "I am doing something at least 3 times a week to be better than I was before".

    No more obsessing. Just celebrating each small victory. You'll get there Focus on what you NEED to do to get to what you WANT to do.

    Yes, for someone just starting out, the 30 Day Shred is a killer. I tried jumping right into it at first and then spent the next several days trying not to whimper when I moved. But I kept going to the gym and built up my stamina and strength and the first time I could do Level 1 the whole way through without stopping and without having to modify the exercises, I was over the moon. I'm about ready to start Level 2. It took a while for me to develop the strength to do all the exercises, but it just shows how far I've come.

    I'm 61 years young, I am not in good shape YET, but I can do jumping jacks in the water. It reduces the impact on your legs, so you can do them without killing yourself. Might want to give water aerobics a try! emoticon

    I really really hate jumping jacks. They make me feel like a moose trying to jump but then I know we can do this. Just keep at it

    Uh, yeah, same here! I kept thinking that she was talking about her BLs doing this than I can to? Well, I have not found a sportsbra for my gut yet! But, I have found modified jumping jacks, just keep your feet on the ground and do the similar motion. I don't care what she says, that mess is PAINFULL! No shame in it, you will get there soon! Keep up the hard work.

    Oh my Lord! I know exactly how you feel! I was (emphasis on WAS) a competitive power lifter when I was in my late 20s - early 30s. Now that I am in my 50s, I have suddenly - after a similarly embarrassing episode as yours - come to the conclusion that my "muscle memory" has Alzheimer's! I decided to incorporate one of my old workouts into my new fitness program using much lighter weights than I used to lift. I nearly crippled myself. I am reduced to going slowly with "granny weights" - but like you I am resolved to never let my body get this out of shape again. Let's make a pact together!

    I felt that way when I started working out. How did I let myself get so far down that road. The good news is your body can get back into shape very quickly as well. Keep up the good work!
