My daughter, two granddaughters, and I went to Santa Barbara for lunch and shopping today. It was slightly cool but the sun was shining so I enjoyed the walk downtown. I hadn't scoped out lunch before we left, partly because I ate breakfast just before I left the house and wasn't thinking about lunch choices.
We decided on California Pizza Kitchen on the drive down. I really do love that the restaurants here put the calorie info on their menus! So for lunch I choose Asparagus and Arugula Salad, 173 calories, and a cup of Tuscan White Bean Minestrone at 157 calories (if I had eaten the croutons which I can't) so lunch was less than 330 calories! It was wonderful. It was just cool enough today for soup. The soup was thick with veggies including spinach and zucchini. It was really tasty and I was surprised to see just 383 mg of sodium. I am sometimes hesitant to order soup out because of the usually high sodium counts. I drank water with lunch so no empty calories there.
Lunch was my healthy choice for the day though. After we finished clothes shopping we had to stop by Whole Foods for my supply of gluten free foods. I picked up a Newman's Own chocolate and caramel cups and a Hansen's Root Beer for the ride home. That snack was as many calories as lunch. Sheesh just after posting yesterday that I need to watch my snacking too. I was within calories for the day, and hit all the major nutrients, so it wasn't a total derailment. Snacking is definitely my nemesis and I am going to have to plan better for them.
Oh back to shopping. I was able to buy a few tops in size medium (yes down from a size 2X when I first started this journey) and a pair of size 10 capri's!!! Granted the capri's are stretchy material but the 12 were definitely too big. Wow! I was very pleased to say the least.
Now I am off to burn some calories on the elliptical! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!
