funny how new clothes lift your mood. even me--and clothes are somewhere on my priority list between cleaning grout and laundering my dust rags.
yesterday i hit walmart for mousetraps, lo cal bread and some canned goods. rob is convinced inflation is going to make foodstuffs so expensive we will be on a diet regardless, so we are slowly building up a stockpile of non perishable food. before i left the store i hit the workout clothes and a lot was on clearance. i had picked up some 3.00 tights kind of pants the other day--and they were really comfortable and nice to work out in, so i went hunting for more. they still had some left--of course they were all black with purple roses. well--who am i to argue--the ugly on the pants won't hurt me, and if i exercise outdoors its at the state park early in the morning when i am less likely to terrify small children. the other day at a different store i found some wonderful fitness shirts--like tee shirts but made of a lovely light fabric that wicks sweat away from you. 3 bucks a pop--so i bought three of those. but today at "WAL" they had some really nice danskin brand hooded "jackets" more like long sleeved shirts that zip. perfect weight for springtime. several colors and only 5 bucks. into the cart they went.
so this morning i came across the "5K your way" challenge on sparky--so i signed up and put on some of my new duds to do my first training day at the park. black and purple roses (with teal leaves) one of my new teal shirts, and a chocolate brown jacket. i even had a knit teal headband that wasn't totally encrusted with dog hair to keep my ears warm.
before i left the bedroom i looked in the mirror and i actually looked kind of nice. believe me when i say--for me to look "nice" at any time is miraculous. most of the time i am covered in paint/dog hair/dirt or pond muck. be assured, that this is a temporary phenomenon. i only have to inflict my atrocious laundry skills on these helpless new articles of clothing to take them down a bit in the beauty department. but for the moment i looked nice and it felt GREAT. went to the park and did my first 5K walk/jog training. concentrated on what i have been learning from the chi running dvd i bought--i can tell when i master that technique it will feel fantastic. what a difference a few subtle changes in alignment make! the sun came out while i was out there, and even though it was cold, all the dormant winter grasses were glowing gold against the blue sky. what a lovely morning!
