For several years, my husband and I have been using Wednesday as a fast day. We drink only liquids, such as hot cocoa, tomato soup, milk, water, etc. and it has taught us that we don't need as much food as most of us Americans are eating every day. We take the money we would have spent on food and donate it to programs that feed really hungry people in this country and around the world. Our bodies have adjusted to this schedule so well that we don't even get hungry on Wednesday. It's amazing to me how much more time I have on Wednesday to do things like walking, meditating, yoga, Jazzercise, etc. because I don't have to spend time preparing food and eating it. Both my husband and I are in the best of health and wouldn't advocate this idea for anyone who isn't already in good health.
