Help! I'm off my Diet!

Thursday, February 10, 2011

I am off my diet and have been for about a week. I have been eating butter and bread like there is no tomorrow. I just can't help craving it. I have never done this before. I have gained 6.5 lbs this week. I haven't been so bad with the rest of my diet, but I am going to start measuring things again. I have gotten so bad with the bread and butter, though, that I can't keep bread in the house.

Do you have any ideas how to get over a craving like this? I never had one so bad before. I can't continue this way. I have to get over it and soon!

Write down what you eat and make yourself more aware.

I quit buying bread and butter a long time ago because I love it too much.

I only buy 1 package of Whole Wheat english muffins a week. There's 6 in a bag and that equals 1 a day Su-Fr. I find I won't over do it on them because then I would be short for my breakfasts.

I will buy whole wheat tortillas to make wraps too because I find that I won't go "crazy" with them like bread.

Also I quit buying butter and only use the Zero calorie butter spray.

Decide to start over. I know that I can't have everything I want and that's a good thing. Operating on what's best for me instead of what I think I want at the time currently works. Besides...I'm always going to want something else afterwards...vicious cycle. Best of luck to you!

I know how hard it is to keep away from these delicious goodies when they are in the home. Unfortunately, we can't always ban items from the house because other family members actually eat them in more moderate ways. I can only suggest that you add it as another goal in your spark goals to only eat X amount per day, and to reduce the x amount until you are at a healthy point. (1 per week? 2 per week?) Then at least you will get points for being good, which is a bit of an incentive and may be just what you need! Good luck!

I hear you.. I am in the same position today.. craving cake. I have read a book though called "women, food and God" (It think it was in that order) it´s great. It talks about cravings, you get them because when you start a diet it feels like a forbidden thing, and forbidden things often tempts us more than if it was allowed. The trick was, not to go on a diet, so nothing feels forbidden. Lots of other aha moments in there too. Best of luck!
