Resistance and Persistence

Tuesday, February 08, 2011

That was on my desk at work today. A very loving and caring person at work heard me say that I loved these Dove Heart Promises and she bought me a bag. She had no idea how much I was struggling to avoid eating them. God love her.

It turns out, it is a good thing that she bought these for me. I know, right? How can this be good? Well, I've learned something from it. Actually, I have learned several things from it. First of all, they are 1 PointsPlus per chocolate. Second, I can choose to eat one and count the PointsPlus if that's what I want to do. Third, I can also choose not to eat one at all. Finally, I learned that I am stronger than the chocolate. It does not control me.

I actually did/have been giving them away to all the special little children I see every day at work (I'm a pediatric nurse), with their parents' permission, of course.

the real deal here now is to put them in a dish on your desk and invite others to partake in that joy because you resisted!!! and that's a celebration for sure

    That is AWESOME! Great attitude!

If I want a chocolate I include it is my calories for the day, but if I want to abstain what helps me is to remind myself that I have had something many times before, I will have it again someday (probably soon), jut not today.

If I say to myself just not today, that seems to help me move past it. Of course I will have more Dove chocolates in the future, just not today.

Good for you for not letting chocolate control you. You are certainly strong.

PS. Those are my favorite chocolate as well. :)

Good for you! I would have opened the bag or had to throw them away to keep from eating them. Haven't gotten that strong yet. emoticon
