Finish What We Start

Tuesday, February 08, 2011

Well first off, I'm NOT a big blogger but the more I think about this I just feel that I need to get this out there. First of all I may need to come back and read it myself. Second I hope someone can really relate to me. Third if it HELPs someone that will be awesome!

I had today OFF! emoticon Very Rare occasion, anyway I took the kids to school and came straight home. Usually if I don't have my nieces I run around town, getting stuff done that I normally don't have time otherwise. Well NOT today. When I got home and began my "day OFF" of course my DH called, he was going to take off early emoticon WHAT??!! WHY?! He wanted to spend some time w/me, OK I love him but PLEASE! Not today! I really had big plans for MYSELF today. Usually I will give in & everyone comes b/f me but I wanted to be a little selfish today. I finally talked him out of it. ((Thank YOU JESUS!))
I ate breakfast, got a few things DONE on Spark but something just keep bugging me. I have never gotten to my goal weight! I will this yr. but then you read other peoples blogs, they gained it back, now they are back on sp. First I don't think I will be leaving WHEN I reach my goal. I think that will help.

Well if we clean an area, you know if you have children or a DH, it will be messed up again in NO TIME! So b/f we can finish something else, we go back & clean it again. Well if we look at stuff we do and how we handle it & then compare it to our weight journeys how are they similar?
If we clean out a cabinet, DO WE KEEP IT CLEAN?
If we are dusting, Do we dust ALL the rooms?

Well I got a lot Done today but DID I FINISH ANYTHING?
I cleaned the kitchen (not everything)
~~dishes done, floor swept, NO cabinets
I cleaned the livingroom (not everything)
~~clothes folded, toys put away, blanket put away (NO vaccuuming)
Anyway Do YOU see a pattern?

I decided to dust ALL the corners, I did the livingroom, the hall, I almost past by my daughters rooms but NO I did those as well, both bathrooms, my room, kitchen, craftroom & even the laundry room. Yes I got a lot done today, I even did some more stuff that I didn't put here but What did I finish? I was really Proud of the DUSTING emoticon

Yes some may think it's silly but WHAT do we REALLY FINISH???
What do we do when we are done???
(Are we just going to move on to something else???)
~Well I know When I get to my GOAL, I will be going back in for maintance! LOL
~I will be checking back in with myself b/f It can have a chance to get out of hand!
~Just like the clothes, dishes, & floors (I need to be taken care of too!)

Who's READY to Finish What WE Start??
The rest of this week, I'm challenging myself TO FINISH ONE THING a DAY!
When God Created the earth he stood back and was satisfied, so If GOD was satisfied, WE can be too!

Great blog! Thanks! Last year was really dedicated to "finishing" for me. For example I was determined to finish an afghan I was crocheting for my daughter, I finished books, I finished things every month... it feels so good!!!

Blessings to you keeping up with kids is so hard! Are you familiar with flylady? (sorry I haven't read other comments so someone else may have mentioned the website)... a couple things I try to do EVERYDAY is 15 minutes of decluttering, have a clean sink before I go to bed and make my bed in the morning... it seems to help everything else.

Have a great week! You are doing awesome!!!

Great blog! I totally understand where you are coming from. I usually go from one extreme to the other. Either diet all the way, or not at all. It's usually exercise and not eat right, but I know that doesn't work. Then with the house I'll get really into cleaning, and then I don't go back to it. I need to set goals around FINISHING things (at least the house part). I know there will always be things to clean but I could organize once and be FINISHED on that level until I re-organize. lol But with eating and exercise we will never be finished. That's why so many times people say "lifestyle" because there is no other way to maintain the accomplishments we have achieved. I'm glad you see the light and I sure do too now! Thanks for sharing:)

First of all, emoticon on the DUSTING! emoticon
Great point made, I know I sure need to finish things I start! I am terrible at not completing what I start, but I am getting better and WILL continue until perfected! emoticon

You're 100% right Becky. I think one of my biggest issues with being overwhelmed is that I can never say I've completed something and check it off my list. I'm trying to get so much done that the quality of what I actually get done is poor at best. Thank you for sharing, I think a lot of us are in the same situation in our own way and it's nice to hear someone verbalize it.

This blog really hits home. You are so right about not finishing things. When I hit goal I know I will be around for the long haul. I believe you need the accountability. We are on this journey with you Becky!

You make an awesome point here! I agree with you. We often don't finish what we start. Thanks for reminding me that I should keep at this until I'm done...and then don't stop there! My plan is to stay active on SP when I'm in my maintenance stage (WHEN, not IF!)

Oh, and I totally can relate about the day off without the husband around!! I have had days like that too!! I cherish my alone time!
