Day Three...Is WINTER the right time to start???

Monday, February 07, 2011

I am looking out the window at the miserable Ohio weather and thinking...should I have started this NOW??? It is so cold outside and right now it is sleeting. The recent snow has mostly melted and our yard is mostly frozen mud. Our driveway is very long and steep and is covered with gravel. I can't count the times I've sledded down to the mailbox on my bottom during times like these.

So, it's Day 3, the weather is miserable, and I can't even walk to the mailbox! The little voice in my head is saying that I should give it up until I can go outside again and work in some exercise. BUT, it's DAY 3, and I've already made the commitment...and I've already had 2 days of healthy food which weren't all that bad...

So, I'm sticking with it and hoping that the weather improves! FAST!!!

Yes, yes, yes! There's no reason to wait even if you can't get out to exercise, you'll be well on your way with eating healthy by the time you can. Wishing you all the best.

Yes "this" is always a great time to start. Remember there are many aspect to sparkpeople besides the exercise. Gather new recipes here, get inspired, do some stretches, play with the dogs (as best you can in a small space)wrestle, it'll be like yoga ;-) You'll be able to get outside soon and you'll be even more inspired. Cute picture....I'm a Calif. whimp, don't know how you do it. Good luck

I guess I should have mentioned why I don't want to exercise indoors. I have 3 dogs and a cat in a very small cabin. Every time I try to exercise, the dogs (who are REALLLLLY tired of being cooped up) think I'm ready to play with them! One of them is a 90 lb. Labrador Retriever, one is a 40 lb. English Setter, one is a very old and very fat Bichon Frise with very bad breath (LOL) and of course the cat just loves to irritate the dogs!

It is much simpler to keep things on the down-low around here...hahaha.

You can do this, rain, sleet, doesn't matter. Do wall pushups, lunges across the living room, anything that gets you up and moving, dance around the house, even cleaning can count as exercise, burn those calories while scubbing the tub. You've made the committment to yourself, don't quit on yourself.

    Yuck. Sounds miserable.

I'm a spoiled Californian so I can go outside for exercise most days.

Hopefully you can find some fun videos or something for your exercise indoors.

I'm about to try this video at my office since I don't have much time at home today: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource

There is always going to be "something" as to why you should wait to make the change...but guess what? Life happens, and it happens everyday. So stick with it, because there is no better time than now!
