It's official!

I met (what I originally thought) was my weight loss goal today! I have known for a couple of months that I was going to have to adjust it down, but didn't want to do that before I knew I could actually loose the original 50 pounds. It has taken me 10 and a half months on SparkPeople to loose this 50 pounds, and another year on my own to loose an additional 20 pounds. 70 pounds gone forever!!!

I had my bone density test done a few months ago, and I am an inch shorter than I used to be. Too bad weight doesn't just disappear like the inches do at my age. Anyway, my original goal still left me in the overweight range by a smidgen. I adjusted the goal to 145. That is a loss of an additional 12 pounds. I now know I can loose the extra pounds. It may take me awhile, but I can do it!

I am not expecting to drop anymore in clothes sizes. I am actually now one size smaller than I ever in my wildest dreams thought possible. I still need to concentrate on strength training, it isn't a habit yet. I am hopeful that the strength training will help adjust some of this extra skin that is floating about.

I am in a back brace for at least another 3 weeks, and after that I plan to get back to walking 12 miles a week. I miss the outdoor activity, but my doctor was adamant about curtailing the outdoor stuff until PT and the brace are history. I have managed to keep up with Curves at least 3x per week, so have been faithful to the cardio at least.

I could not have made this journey on my own...a big THANK YOU to all my Spark friends who encouraged and inspired me to succeed. I appreciate each of you very much! Being accountable to others makes me want to succeed even more.
