Running and Breathing

Monday, January 31, 2011

Both of my kids went down for naps at the same time today which made it the perfect opportunity for me to get a nice run in on the treadmill. I ran 2.75 miles in about 33 minutes!! Woohoo. That's my furthest so far. Ellie, the baby, woke up once and fussed for 20 minutes and put herself back to sleep. I'd like to add that she is no longer swaddled. i think she is putting herself back to bed so much easier now that she's not swaddled! At night she's unswaddled too up until about 4 or 5 am when she wakes up for a bottle then we swaddle her to get her to sleep until past 7. Anyways right after my run my toddler woke up screaming and woke my baby up, she went back to sleep but the baby didn't. I'm just glad she waited until after my run!

Running is causing me one issue though. Today after running for about 10 minutes my chest starting hurting to breathe and after about 20 minutes I felt a little short of breathe. I pushed until I got to 2.75 miles, not sure how I did it. but after I was coughing and still felt short of breath and it hurt to take a deep breathe. Now an hour later it still hurts to take a deep breath. I almost can't even do my cooldown walk at the end. Anyways I'm sure I don't have EIA but I'm going to the doctor next Monday just to make sure that everything is ok. My copay is only $5 so what do I have to lose. I'd say I'm out of shape but I've been working out for 4 weeks now. I felt like this before and wrote it off as being out of shape but I don't think I should still feel like this.

Anyways it's great to be back to blogging. I took a little break because of time but now I'm back. Between recording calories, working out, and taking care of my kids, plus getting to bed at a good hour I have no time.

On another note I love the game Dance Central in xbox kinect. It gets your heart pumping plus it's really fun. My husband doesn't like the way I play because I want to master a song before moving on but he wants me to move on once I get a good score. He doesn't understand that I want a perfect score or atleast close to it! I had my doubts about spending the money on the kinect but I'm glad we did!

I hope everyone is having a great day!

I hope you get an easy solution to the breath issue. But it sounds to me that you're managing your day very well, given all that you have to do. I had to smile when you said the toddler woke up the baby. That's one thing they're good at without ever intending to be.

Wow, that's a bummer on the pain, but nice work on the numbers you are pulling down!! That is impressive with or without pain. Great job on getting the babies to sleep and to do it themselves. Always a great milestone that only a mommy can fully appreciate. I am gonna have to look into that kinect. My nephew has it and it looks like a lot of fun. Right now it is wii dance in our house, and actually my hubby is the one who masters each song...I guess if he is gonna do it, it needs to be done right. lol Nice work, hope you feel better.

I had similar issues and the DRs just told me it was a mechanics problem -- I got an inhaler to use when I exercise or have cough attacks and it really really helps!!

My asthma has been flared up lately, so I can really relate to your breathing. My kids brought home some respiratory thing and we are all paying for it. Hoping you feel better soon! Congrats on your run! emoticon

Ha! I'm the same way with Dance Central. I really like to master the song and all of the levels. I was going down the list of songs, but now I've started jumping around a bit. Do you have a favorite song? I like that Galang song (I know I'm misspelling it).

I'm going to get back into the dancing this week.

I tend to have a hard time breathing whenever I run as well. It's one of the reasons why I'm not a huge fan of running.

I hope you're able to figure it out and/or that it gets better for you!

I hope you can figure out what the problem is. You shouldn't be having that hard of a time breathing after an hour.
