I thank God for amazing friends, like Vino. He took the entire morning to get me through more tests. I was given the results of the tests. It was beyond belief. The iron took care of the anemia.
The thing that made me drop was how much my cholesterol dropped in the 10 days on a nearly fat free diet. It went from 482 down to 296! Vino said that in the states they would have been able to do a test to see what my free cholesterol levels were, but he had to do it manually, by taking the fat out of my diet. I know he was doing it for a reason. It means that even though I do have a cholesterol problem, it is related to how my body processes fat.
It was interesting to see what level of relief Vino had at lunch time. He said that he was ready to start heart testing on me had the cholesterol level had not dropped as dramatically as it had. He was certain that if I didn't have a response to the fat free diet, that I was in trouble. The things he didn't tell me because he is trying not to create fear. He said I will most certainly have to watch my fat intake the rest of my life. That even if he can figure out the underlying problem that is causing the cholesterol elevation.
The thyroid test also had some changes. The T4 was still elevated, but the T3 was low. He said the changes were as a result of the amount of fish I was eating this week. He is going to do a ultra sound on the thyroid tomorrow, to make sure it is not abnormal.
Don and I are breathing a sigh of relief, but I am actually thankful that this wakeup call has come before I went to the USA.
