Why I Won't Quit in 2011 . . .

Saturday, January 29, 2011

I have battled my weight my whole life. I started Weight Watchers for the first time when I was in the 6th grade. I was almost at my goal weight and for some reason I decided to quit. I gained back everything I had lost and then some. That was the beginning of a never ending cycle. I have tried every diet, diet pill, gimmick out there. About a year and a half ago, I went to a weight loss clinic and started taking Adipex. The doctor told me that the only way this was going to work was if I started exercising. I joined Curves and started exercising 3 days a week. I went from 222 pounds to 188 pounds in 7 months. Then once again, I decided to quit. I gained back 20 pounds. I am so tired of this!! I am finally ready to accept that this is an everyday, ongoing battle for me. The only thing that is going to work is a LIFESTYLE CHANGE!! SparkPeople is helping me to make that change. I am exercising at least 30 minutes EVERYDAY - some days as much as 120 minutes. I am still working on the healthy eating, but I am making progress. I have quit too many times. I am NOT going to quit again!! This is the year that I am going to make those lifestyle changes!!

Instead of quitting, lean on a friend. At least give someone the chance to try to talk you into not quitting. While you're at it, write yourself some notes telling yourself why you don't want to quit. Write it now, while you're at your best- as your blog seems to make it sound like you are.
Weakness comes to us all. It's how we opt to deal with those moments that makes the impact. Be prepared, be ready- and know that you CAN stay on course.

That is the right attitude, to have in 2011 and however long it takes, and remember it is a permenent change, eating the right way after meeting goal, is as important, as it is now, while losing it. Learning the balance as we go, so we know how to make it easier, for ourselves, later when we need to maintain, the weight we want to be. Learn, Do, Plan, Focus. We will do this. The Butterflies will Soar, Forever, when we see one flying outside, we will think we did this, were doing this, This is our symbol, of success!
