MY fAVORITE FITNESS TOOL: MY PEDOMETER

Friday, January 28, 2011

My Husband got me a pedometer last year and I started wearing it when I took my 30 min. walk each day. I was surprised at how many steps I took in just 30 min. and decided to make 10,000 steps a day my goal. Even when I wore the pedometer all day around the house, I could only get to 10,000 steps on days when I Jazzercised, walked, went shopping, vacuumed and hung laundry outside. Wearing my pedometer has changed my whole attitude about walking. Now I park farther away from the store so I can get in more steps between the car and the store. As the weather warms up, I'll increase my walk to 40 min. and put more hills in my walk. As I walk, I sing songs to myself to keep the rhythm going and even made up one today. Here it is : (to the tune of Marching to Pretoria)
CHORUS
I am wearing my pedometer, pedometer, pedometer
Oh, I am wearing my pedometer, each step I take will count.
VERSES
I like walking. You like walking. So we will count our steps, so we will count our steps.
I like walking. You like walking. So we will count our steps as we walk
along. (Chorus)
Step by step we reach our goals. So we will celebrate, So we will celebrate as we walk along
Step by step we reach our goals. So we will celebrate as we walk along (chorus)
Up the hills and down the hills, we're building our muscles, building our muscles, building our muscles.
Up the hills and down the hills, we're building our muscles as we walk along. ( Chorus)

    Hi Peggy
I love your blog. I don't know the tune but I love the words that you wrote. I think that anyone who gets a pedometer is surprised on how few steps we take on a average day. I was. I had purchased a pedometer as I had committed to walking 10,000 steps. The only way to reach it was to walk and I made a commitment to walking more. It seems one thing leads to another on this journey to healthy living. Tomorrow , I will reach another goal and that is walking across America. It is 4063 miles and I will be at the finish tomorrow.
You have a great attitude and are motivated, keep walking those steps and congratulations.
