My Husband got me a pedometer last year and I started wearing it when I took my 30 min. walk each day. I was surprised at how many steps I took in just 30 min. and decided to make 10,000 steps a day my goal. Even when I wore the pedometer all day around the house, I could only get to 10,000 steps on days when I Jazzercised, walked, went shopping, vacuumed and hung laundry outside. Wearing my pedometer has changed my whole attitude about walking. Now I park farther away from the store so I can get in more steps between the car and the store. As the weather warms up, I'll increase my walk to 40 min. and put more hills in my walk. As I walk, I sing songs to myself to keep the rhythm going and even made up one today.
