So I've decided to run a 5k in May. This last week has been my attempt to start training. It is freeze-your-nose-off cold here, so I started by doing the wii fit runs last week.
last night was my first opportunity to get on the treadmill in a week, so I wanted to try my new running concept on it. i got the speed up to about 4 mph, and attempted a light jog.
I discovered I have an overwhelming fear of running on the treadmill. i'm not sure why. I feel like i'm going to fall off the thing. I do not get this fear running in place on the solid ground. after a couple minutes, I brought the speed down to 3.5 and did a brisk walk for the rest of my workout.
how do I overcome this fear of running on a treadmill? I don't think it's that I'm not capable of running for a few minutes at a time (I'm not expecting to run a mile yet), because I can run laps in water aerobics, and maintain a steady jog on the wii fit for 9 minutes.
I need to find a way to overcome this fear, because running outside is not an option (I can't even find the sidewalks!).
