Trying to get the Spark again . . .

Remember that old Barry Manilow song, "Trying to Get the Feeling" ? Maybe I am the only Barry Manilow fan - regardless - that is sorta how I feel about Sparkpeople these days. I lurk around, reading everyone's updates and get happy for them, but sorta bummed for me. Most of the weight I lost has slowly creeped back. I did real well unit after Christmas, and now apparently it is open grazing season at my house.

I want to lose and get healthy, I just can't seem to get up and over the hump and do anything about it. I get on the scale and just sigh . . .yes, I know the scale shouldn't be the only measure of success. My biggest issue is this - I LIKE to eat, I LIKE carbs and all things bad for me. I SUBSTITUTE FOOD for pleasure in my life.

But hey, I realize that if it was EASY we would all have the body and health we desire, right? Any tips, tricks, suggestions for getting that Spark feeling again?

    I can also relate!! I have been stuck since Christmas--can't get that little bit of weight off that I added and NOW I seem to be adding weight!! I am hungry and try to watch it but...it is hard. So -- no good ideas but lots of sympathy!!

    Boy, can I relate!! I think I should have been a food critique, just so that I could eat all the time!! I SO love food, seeing pictures or commercials makes me crave until I have to find THAT ONE thing that makes the craving subside. Even as I write this, I am picturing (and smelling) warm crusty bread with cold butter pats melting! I have found that since I have been more committed to the spark blogging, it has helped me stay on track, and also I developed a water habit that I know is good good good for me.
    I am not losing weight, and that's a bummer, but I am establishing some healthy permanent changes which, who knows, might lead to the weight loss I want. I keep water by my bed, so the first thing I do in the morning is drink about 12 oz. It took s while to establish this habit, but I find it sets me up for the day, and I try to drink 8 or so oz about 20 minutes before each meal. I hope you get a lot of tips, I will be seeing if there are some more that I can use!!

    I totally understand where you are coming from. It seems like everytime I get within 10 lbs of my goal...I celebrate my toasting myself with food!! Overeating for weeks at a time..and BAM!! There's the weight again!! I think I may have found something that will help this time! I am going to remember that wonderful feeling I had when I looked in the mirror and actually liked what I saw! I also have a pic. of me feeling great (and you could tell by the smile on my face!) so I am using that as a motivational tool too. Maybe you could try to remember how great you felt before and then you may want that feeling again! Good luck to you!
