Just Maybe....

Monday, January 24, 2011

I have not really been trying to lose weigh lately. I have just been making sure I pick healthy choices and portions. I have been eating out a little, but I get small stuff. I mainly pick healthy meals though. When I can't cook, I try to get Healthy Choice TV dinners. I have not been working out lately and I sit at a desk for 10 hours a day. I try to fidget, or shake my legs to help keep my body moving. Anyway, eating healthy and not exercising, I am averaging 1.5 lb loss a week! My body fat percentage is only dropping half a percent every two weeks. If I can get myself back into exercise I could lose more weight. More importantly, I could get my fat percentage to drop faster, which has been my main goal for a while. I am getting excited!

I sit a lot at work too. I brought a resistance band to the office and work with it as a fidget. It's another increase in movement, works the muscles, and is great for "computer back."

1.5 lbs a week! That's wonderful! Mastering the diet portion of weight loss is always the most difficult. Since you have already figured out the hard part, the worst is over. Bodyfat is a smaller number, so it moves slower than weight. Don't let that discourage you. As you drop pounds, your bodyfat numbers will improve as well. If you add exercise, start small. Don't overwhelm yourself or you may revert back to your old eating habits. A half-hour walk a few days a week. A workout video. Something you can maintain. Before you know it, that pound and a half is going to be 10, then 20. Just keep up the slow, steady progress. Even if you're not losing weight/ bodyfat as quickly as you'd like, the important thing is you're headed in the right direction!

Don't be too worried by how much body fat you are dropping. The amount of weight (the rate) you are dropping is EXCELLENT and I would be more than satisfied with that - it is a very healthy one and far more likely to stay off at that rate. My weight-loss was even slower, and I have now lost tons! Just have patience - I don't know if you have heard - it is a virtue:-)
