Ok, so I bombed on the whole "blog everyday thing"...

Sunday, January 23, 2011

for the Unbreakable Resolutions. I'm still following them and keeping them front and center in my mind, just to busy to blog during the week!

As well as my 3 previous goals (7000steps, 8 glasses of water, and within my calorie limit), I'm going to try to add in NancyLee46's STRONG challenges (virtual walk/run team) for this week.

Monday's challenge---S is for cutting out snack food!!!!! Yikes! This is a hard one! I love my popcorn! (which I know is probably not too bad as far as snack foods go--but I must have mine with a tad of butter and a ton of salt!) In all reality, I won't cut out popcorn but I will do my best to have smaller portions and less salt.

Perhaps one of February's goals should be to replace unhealthy snacks with healthy ones--or to cut down on salt. I really need to do this but I love, love, love my salt!

THINK ABOUT HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND KIDNEY FAILURE! Not nice options to continued use of high salt intake. emoticon

If you would like a new snack idea, how about pretzels?
While salty I hear they are a wiser choice than chips or chocolate.

As snacks go, you could do much worse than popcorn. Maybe you can cut back on the salt gradually.

Maybe, since you have so many other goals right now, nix the daily blog and try for a weekly one. If you change your goal you'll probably feel SO much better for actually achieving it!!

I really like that you aren't getting rid of your favorite snack, but are going to try to reduce the serving size. If we can figure out ways to keep the things we like AND fit them into a healthier lifestyle...I think we'll feel so much better and less deprived. That way we'll stick with it for the long run!!

Take care and have a great week!!!

Great job at sticking to your goals for the week. sometimes getting them all logged into sp is a challenge.

I am a huge popcorn fan to. WHEN I USE TO go to movies I would drown it in butter. now I pop my own Kettle Corn in the mini bags and I have my own little snack and I stay within my calories for the day. It did take some getting use to because I love my sweet/salty popcorn.

Good luck on making substitutions you can do it.
