For the past few months I have been having regular sports massage as my friend is studying osteopathy and has just done her sports massage qualification.
I can honestly say I am so glad that I have it done. When I first started seeing her she looked at my body alignment and found that my pelvis was out, apparently typical for women. So she gave me some work to do on my posture to remedy it and also started doing some massage on my legs and rotational work on my hips to free it all up.
Four months on and my posture is much better, my hips are nearly correct and I feel much better in myself. If I have been aching a lot she will do a deep muscle massage which helps remove the lactic acid from the muscles and this is brilliantly as I nearly always ache after a workout.The treatments can make me really tired and if she does my neck and shoulders I tend to get a slight headache but with an early night I feel much better the next day.
Today she did my hamstrings and quads. OMG it is really quite painful when she does it but the immediate effects are amazing. She introduced me to her massage octopus today and boy do they give more pressure! My hamstrings always tend to go really tight after working them so the massage just frees them up a bit!
Anyway, to get to the point I love having the treatments and they are really making a difference to my workouts as I can actually do them without worrying about aching as it has all been worked out of my muscles.
I would definitely recommend others to have it done as and when they can.
