a good day

yesterday i spent the day with two friends at a master gardener winter gardening show. we were in the show to promote a new organization that is a free informational database for horticultural events in our community. the whole event was great--it has grown from very humble beginnings into a big event that takes up three buildings at the fairgrounds. the place was packed, lots of great speakers, lovely garden art, live plants and lots of enthusiastic gardeners. this organization is the brainchild of a friend and i--my friend is a junior at college and he took hold of the idea and ran with it. in only a few months his online presence has gained about 80members--no small feat in and of itself. yesterday we DOUBLED the membership. it was so fun to spend the day with these two young men--one in college and one in high school. they are passionate gardeners and entirely committed to this idea. it was great to watch them interact with all these people who share their love for gardens.
food was a non starter at the venue--pulled pork and italian beef is not real helpful when you don't eat meat. but i had a big dessert apple and i bought three pieces of raspberry craisens covered in dark chocolate to share with my two friends. that and a bottle of water were my food for the day. came home and tracked everything and ate pizza covered in veggies for dinner and ended up within my range on everything but protein--so not so bad. so all in all a good day.
