Feeling firmer and muscular... (plus update)

Friday, January 21, 2011

Well, I have never been any good at doing chin ups, even when I was younger and weighed a lot less. But my trainer has decided to get me doing negative chins to start me off and these are the very reason that my arms are now crazily pumped. emoticon

I had to try a few different ways to do it before I found a way that suited me and my current level and I managed to do about 8 for each set. So I am now determined to be able to get myself to do at least one chin up and feel great for it.

Tonight I was being quite self indulgent and was admiring my muscles in the mirrors in the gym, big headed yes I know. But I just can not get over how well I can feel them developing and I am actually really pleased with them so far. I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

I am also trying to figure out how to correctly tense the muscles individually which is a lot more difficult than it sounds, especially if you do not consciously tense your muscles much. So I am having a go and have found my lats and pecks over the past week and can actually see my triceps moving. I might have a go at the poses over the weekend and see how difficult they are and what they feel like.

Desperately I am avoiding standing on the scales as I want to go by feel and sight for what I want, although I did get the urge earlier but told myself not to be silly because it is not about weight!!!!! emoticon

My interviews on Thursday went brilliantly and I was told I would get invited to a second interview for one of them and the other is a three step process so will have to wait and see. Although I have managed to land an amazing interview for next week with the one and only PRADA!!!!!! OMG I know, I can not believe it and am really looking forward to it. Not to be too big headed but I usually interview really well so am keeping fingers crossed that one of them will pay off.

The temp role that I am currently doing is due to end next week but they told me today that they would like to extend it for another week but were understanding that if I was to get an offer elsewhere for permanent work then I would of course go. One of the managers has also offered to write me a personal reference if I need it which I thought was great and am really grateful for all their help.

So all in all feeling great, feeling positive and loving what is happening to my body at the moment!!!!

Nice work...and I hear you on not wanting to get on the scale. I still do get on that stupid thing daily but I no longer let it define how I feel for the day. Go on got this! Good luck with the process :-)

Your not being big headed by checking your muscles out in the mirror. The way i look at it, you worked for those muscles, you have every right to stop and glance at yourself and admire your hard rock, remember that ! emoticon

Working for Prada is going to be a great experience, and i am sure the employee discount will be a great treat for you! You got this!

And you are absolutely right, it isn't all about the scale. Especially when you lift weights, the scale does not reflect your hard work, but those new muscles popping up in new places surely do! Keep up the great work!

Watched your vids and read this blog - you're going great guns! Well done.
I am planning a pull ups challenge for myself too. Probably in Feb but as I can't do ANY at all I'll have to build up with negative ones too. Excited to get started. I love challenges like that.
Also seeing your muscles develop is really motivating!

And with work - wow. Looks like you've made an amazing impression at your temp place, and now are doing really well finding something permanent.

Congratulations on all these wonderful achievements x
