Harrowing Experience! And God's Protection...

Friday, January 21, 2011

Friends, I was in a car accident yesterday (am OK!), but thought I'd tell you about it. It makes me grateful for another day of living and breathing, and for God giving His angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways.

This is a note that I sent my family last night:

I was reminded again today of why I need people praying for me while I'm on the road every day. On my way home I was involved in a pretty bizarre car accident. First I'll say that I am fine (except for the usual after-accident achiness). I was on a 2-lane road when a pick-up truck crossed my lane up ahead of me and pulled on to the right shoulder facing me. To my shock, he neither slowed down nor stayed on the shoulder! He came at me at full speed, hitting me on the front passenger side, turning my car completely around, and then while our two vehicles somehow got intertwined, he kept his foot on the accelerator! That's when I got really scared. He finally got unhooked from me and went further down the road on the shoulder. A big snowbank stopped him. I found out later that he had a stroke while he was driving (he's only about 50 years old). Jerry and I were able to stop in the ER and talk to his wife (as we were already at the hospital visiting Jerry's mom who's doing well). She was quite shook up, and really appreciated when we said a prayer with her. God took care of me and allowed me to minister to her.

Today I'm taking Ibuprofen, resting up, and checking on my car (poor baby!). I have two offers for use of a car from elderly parents - still looking out for me...

Like our friend, Helen, I'm so grateful for the POSITIVES:
God, who never sleeps, and always watches over me
My dear husband, who dropped everything and came to my side as quickly as possible
The rescue people, who knew I was not hurt and went immediately to the aid of the other driver - he really needed their care badly at that time
All the MANY kind passersby who stopped to offer help and encouragement. They wouldn't leave my side.
Caring and praying elderly parents - both Jerry's and mine offered me the use of a car!
My children, who contacted me as soon as they heard.
Oh yes, can't forget those dear grandsons who couldn't wait to say hi to Nana on the phone :o)
God caring for me and allowing me to minister to the driver's wife
My Spark Sisters, who are always there with their cyber hugs and prayers

Be blessed, Friends, and when you're on the road pray for protection and watch out for the other guy (pray for him/her too!) emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh dearest Ena, I'm so happy to hear that you're safe and pray that the man indeed makes a full recovery too. You are kindness itself to go and comfort his wife too.
I've heard of those things happening before, with heart attacks too. I know we can never avoid those situations but as you rightly say, to be covered with prayer is our weapon....against the enemy!
We never leave the house or move the car without asking God to keep us safe on the roads and watch over our home too while we're away.
Praying you make a full recovery from the after effects.
    Hugs & love,
    Janet

Oh Ena I am so glad that you are safe and praising God with you that you were able to talk with the driver's wife AND prayed with and for her. Ministering to her was just another blessing God brought to you!!! God is definitely holding you close in his loving arms and protecting you.
Great positives...what a blessing to read them and your blog!!!
Praying for everyone involved...that you don't start feeling more aches and pains in the next few days...that the driver recuperates fully...his wife as she is with her DH, and your MIL as she is healing.
Continued blessings and hugs, my friend.
