I'm conflicted over who should win the NFC Championship

emoticon Yes, there are many things in the world that are far more important. But the matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers has brought back some sweet memories.

Since my Colts were less than stellar this year with numerous injuries and won't be playing in the Super Bowl, I would usually turn to my second team...the Bears. Having lived in northwest Indiana several years and a daughter who lived in Chicago for 9 years, I felt a bond with the city. I always got a thrill driving up Lake Shore drive and past Soldier Field in it's beautiful setting by the lake. But the Packers have a hold on me, too. My very first memories are of my dad holding me on his lap and reading the Sunday comics to me after church. Then we would stay there and watch football on our fuzzy black and white TV. He was (and still is) an avid Packer fan. I'm not sure when or why he became one, but they have always been his favorite team. I think my love of football was started in those early days. I knew what a "down" was long before any of my friends.

So I guess I'll be happy with whoever wins on Sunday. I know my dad will be thrilled if he gets to cheer his team in the Super Bowl. But I know this brought back memories of my very happy childhood and that's "priceless".

With my Patriots already on "winter vacation" my only thought for AFC is that the Steelers need to put a bit hurting on the jets this Sunday!!!

I have watched quite a bit of football and I am impressed with Aaron Rogers. On top of the fact that he has a GREAT arm and throws a rocket, he took over the Packers after the former QB (who was revered by his fans, but should have retired 2 years ago) left town to go to a rival. I have to admit, I'd like to see Green Bay in the SB. emoticon

Other than that, I want to see some good, close, clean games

WOW! I'm totally with you! But for different reasons.

I grew up in Wisconsin. My parents were 'transplants' from out East, so we paid more attention to college ball growing up than professional. But when it was time for professional ball, it was the Packers.

My husband, however, was raised a Packer fan - and we have enjoyed many a game at the frozen tundra (including a chilly December Packer/Bear matchup several years ago).

My son was born in '96 - he was 9 months old at his first "Packers Superbowl party". How time flies! Here comes the conflict....

We now LIVE in Bear Country! Yikes! Being surround by Bear fans 365 days a year is bad enough (they all know my background and I get a bit of grief from them), but right now - it's almost 'unBEARable'.

All kidding aside, the Bears are my second team of choice. If they end up going to the Superbowl I will be happy for my Bear-loving friends and will cheer them on. If it's the Packers who win - well - I will be elated!

Either way - I've definitely got my seat picked out for the Superbowl this year!
