Have to start over tomorrow!

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Today I smoked about 10 cigarettes. I don't know what happened, I was doing so well. Tomorrow is a new day and a new start. I am NOT going to smoke even a few puffs here and there because I think that was my downfall. It has to be all or nothing it seems like. A few puffs led to buying a pack, which lead to smoking a half a cigarette every couple of hours. Now I have to go through the nicotine withdrawals all over again. This time won't be as bad since I have only smoked about 10 cigarettes in the last 6 days compared to 180 cigarettes in 6 days that my body was used to.
Like the old saying, fall down 6 times, get back up 7 times! That will have to be my motto!
God bless and goodnight all.

Suz, I had to go back and read your last few blogs. Somehow I've missed seeing your posts. You have had a rough time since the move. That was stressful enough without getting sick. So sorry.

Congratulations on your decision to stop smoking! The first days are the toughest as you already know, but God will bless your efforts. There is no decision that we make to better our health that is not prompted by Him. Keep that positive attitude and don't give up, no matter how many times you fall.

One thing I know that has helped others is to use lots of water, inside and out. It will aid in flushing out your system. Don't be surprised if your bath water turns yellow from the nicotine coming out of your pores. Your cravings will weaken as your system is cleansed. Also don't sit in your smoking chair after you eat. Go for a walk. You are right in going "cold turkey". I'm told the first 3 days are hardest, but that it gets better after that. What I'm sharing comes from a very successful stop smoking program that I have sometimes helped to conduct. Last week a man who had smoked as long as you was praising God for being smoke free for 2 months and 2 days. I will be praying for you, my friend.

God bless and help you! I like your Scarlett O'Hara, "After all, tomorrow is another day" attitude. Just keep starting over until you get it. The favor you are doing to your body is well worth it. emoticon
