How's that 2% thing going?

If I have known about the 2% secret since my officer training days, and that's quite a long time ago, the compounded return of always putting out just a little more effort must have made me wildly successful since then right?

Well, knowing something and doing it are two different things. The friends I observed back then had laid a foundation of healthy and moderate living that allowed them to start each day ready to go and ready to last to the end.

I on the other hand have started way too many days in my life by handicapping myself. If I wake up groggy from a beer or two too many, too little sleep, bloated from too much intake and not enough exercise, then I'm already starting the day 10% down. Do this for months on end, and one day you wake up wondering, hey, what happened to my so-called life?

Looking back I have to admit I'm a little uncomfortable with how many years I was just kind of sleep walking through. That's not putting out that steady little bit extra, it's running your engine with a dirty air filter and half inflated tires but being too lazy to get out of the comfy drivers seat to fix it.

Looking forward, there's no better time than right now to rebuild the healthy foundation that supports an awake life. And I'm hoping to make myself accountable for doing these healthy things by putting myself out there on Spark. And the tools here make it easier!

    I can relate to the sleepwalking through part. Many times I deprive myself of sleep! And then there are times when I have a few too many or eat too many salty snack. I'm working on getting rid of these bad habits. Great post!
