Colorado Springs Club Runs

Sunday, January 16, 2011

The Gazette ran an article in November that listed a bunch of club runs and pub runs.

Jack Quinn's started this fad with their Tuesday evening runs, and the idea (run a couple of miles to earn your pint) has been picked up by a number of other establishments.

Pub runs combine the things Colorado Springs is known for: staying fit and drinking beer.

At most places you do the run/walk/hike and then get a buck or two off a pint. A couple of places get fancy with T-shirt awards, but I'm not going to list all that cuz it might change.

The Gazette article also lists some other running club meeting times that don't require beer. I work close to Jack Quinn's and often see the people out there running/jogging/walking. It's a pretty diverse group between a few hard core runners, Moms with baby carriages, Colorado College kids, and everything in between. I don't think the babies are required to drink a pint.

I want to hold on to to the information, and maybe someone else out there is interested, but I'm tired of having the newspaper article hanging on the fridge, so here it is:

emoticon = pub run, beer afterwards for those who care
emoticon = running for running, no beer reward.

Every year I say I'm going to join one of these. I know Quinn's is pretty crowded. And they used to have food deal, but have cut that. But, I really am interested in the Meadow Muffins, so hopefully, this Spring I will get going. I also work with a lady whose husband has a running/drinking club, I can get the info if you are interested.

    Perk,
Sure, especially at the pub run/walk/crawls. It's all kinds of people who show up, and I think many just do a brisk hike.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I haven't been running for very long plus I'm 48.5 +. Are there people like me in any of these groups? I can run 3-5 miles but not very fast.

The Gazette article also listed serious running groups, but if you are serious, you probably already know about them. emoticon
