bathing suit woes

going on a first ever cruise with hubby; south caribbean no less.
OBVIOUSLY i need bathing suits.
ordered two from shapefx.com. on sale (of course)--why would i invest 100+ dollars into a gorgeous swimsuit that sucks in all the right places only to get skinny out of it in a few months?
wound up buying two--one in size 18w (that was the smallest available); this one is one shouldered black number, very plain. Gotta give the people props; for chubby people the construction is hardcore--really does give you good shape. One gripe: they stitched the shoulder wrong (twisted), so now i either have to return it, or perform minor surgery on it and install a small ring (it would make it nicer than a plain shoulder. It is sort of heavy though with all the netting and whatnot.
second one was in size 16W. It was a sort of throwback to bombshells, green, with sort of shelf top and shirring down the belly and a halter ties. Very pretty. Fits VERY tightly, and their sizes really do run small. And again, the construction of the suit feels quite sturdy and it's a fairly heavy number as well.
Bottom line--for 50 bucks i got 2 quite pretty bathing suits that i will have no problems wearing on the boat (and off the boat). Would recommend to others, with caveat of erring on the side of ordering bigger size and knowing that the material is sort of thick, but will hold you in. For transitional bathing suit (i.e. want something cute, but don't want to invest into something expensive while shifting sizes) --it is perfect. Down the line when i get to a manageable size, i'll consider getting a miraclesuit or carol wior, but for now this will do JUST fine.
anyone else has any swim suit recommendations?
