Back on track

It has been almost two months since I last blogged so I figured I should post an update. Lots of ups and downs since then. Huge stresses with my 20 year old daughter. I used to think that teenagers were stressful and then once they were out of that age, things would go smoothly. BOY was I WRONG! I won't go into details because I don't want to start bawling..

About my fitness....I was given the green light to start running in November but my achilles was still tender so I ran once a week for the month of December and finished my crunches goal (by the way I did do 100,000 crunches last year!!!!). I'm also proud of myself because I made it through my One Year Bible. I have never read it from beginning to end, so I felt very accomplished to have been able to do so.

This year has been a strong one so far. I have been able to run 8 out of 10 days and have already racked up 34 miles. I am running 5 miles every 4 day and the days in between averaging 2 to 5 miles. It feels great being out again and back on track. I was so miserable having to take all that time off and having gained more than 15 pounds!

We are supposed to go to Mexico on the 26th of February and I am hoping to lose at least 8 pounds by then.

I have committed to following a strict diet (no alcohol, sweets, pasta) until the trip and then after the trip I will slowly put them back in moderation. I am on day 10 of my workout and food regimen and so far so good.

I do have to thank my spark buddy Karen/KPACE who has been helping to keep me on track.

    Thanks Cindy and Michelle. I am trying to stay on track. Yesterday was an off day for me for gym/running but it was also a mental and emotional off today. Working now and hoping to get to the gym and get 4 miles in plus some weights.

    Cindy - you look great. I WISH i could get into the shape you have gotten into!

    Michelle - I'm doing all of my running inside right now. Since the first couple of months I have to be extra careful not to tear my achilles again, I can't take a chance and go running outside and then have to walk back home if something happens. Including strength training into my workout is definitely helping. Are you strength training too?

    A, I am so proud of you!!!! You have a plan and I know that there will be no stopping YOU!!! I am sooooo jealous of all that running you are able to do!! :). Who am I kidding....I still would not and could not run that far healthy!!! YOU go girl!!! Know that I am here cheering for you and reading your email not only made me smile but motivated me to stay positive and focused! So thank you!!!
    as for your daughter....I get it!! My oldest is almost 22 and I swear he acts 16 at times!! I am so looking forward to that " ME" factor to be gone! I am told that this to passes, as it did with all of us before.....just know I understand and sympathize!!!! Our children are are greatest joys and our greatest pains!!! LOL!!!!

    yes!!! i'm so happy for you A! thats really great you are able to be running so much now, i know it is making you happy.
    sorry to hear about your daughter. don't worry, i'm sure she will come around. when i was 20 all i wanted was to be away from my family, and now, every chance i get, i want to be around them.
    i'm sure you will lose those 8 pounds no problem!
