Things have been progressing pretty well, I'd say in regards to the big day. I'm at T minus 27 days till the 5k. Getting amped!
I've been more committed to keeping my training dates which are every Monday and Thurs at work and practically every other day at home. I've been listening to my body, fueling it well, kicking major H2O butt while trying to build my endurance and agility. It's working pretty good, in my opinion. The trainer today noticed I seem to land on my heels first, which undoubtedly is causing the shin pains to act up again. Today's the first day in a while they've reared their ugly little shin splint heads despite plenty of stretching. He advised me to try to buy shin wraps to run and workout in - so prob this weekend that'll be on my to-do list.

I call this day "I found TURF"
It never really dawned on me that the public (other than soccer teams) can utilize the turf that's near our big kids' school. I headed out at the crack o' dawn Sat am (big accomplishment considering TOM is here) and did some repeat training. It was cooooold....

, but not raining so the adjustment was to taking that icy air into my lungs which was a freaking drag. The "repeat" training was pretty much just that - I'd run lightpost to the next lightpost, then walk the distance to the next lightpost, then return to running to the next, and so on. A bit different from interval training since that's much more distance-specific pertaining to mileage. Felt good - ignored what would have seemed like random people gawking at me in the past and just kept on going. I was out there for about 90 minutes until Joey's wrestling practice was over and worked up a helluva sweat.

"A good day for 7.5 mi"
It started out as a very lazy Sunday am. TOM almost got the best of me, till I looked out the window amidst doing my usual Sunday chores around the house and the beautiful sunshine beckoned me to "come on out, Jeanie!"

- You know me, I'm a sucker for a good sunny day. So...I headed out for what I thought would just be a nice, brisk walk. Since I had some movies I'd rented for the kiddos, I figured I'd walk them to return them. It was so nice out, I did like Forest Gump and "I kept right on going"...right to the trail I almost completely forgot about which is near the High School - I saw so many runners out - one lady that was doing her thing wearing a Team in Training T-shirt...yep, I gave her a big thumbs up. When I realized she was quite bulkier than I, and she was STILL running, I figured heck, why not? So I jogged a bit. Not a whole heck of a lot, but I did. Brisk walked the rest of the way till I got home almost 8 miles later. Not too shabby for a Sunday.
Back to today...

"My pants are falling down!"
You're probably wondering why the title for this blog - figured I'd save the best for last (in MY opinion!) - I wore these workout pants today - just grabbed the ones I usually wear at home for today's training. When the trainer and I - btw it was only the two of us today since no one else showed which was such a definite plus since I had a custom workout- started out on our repeats, I immediately felt the horrifying feeling of some slippage goin on down around my waistline....the friggin pants were literally FALLING RIGHT OFF ME WITH EACH STEP!!! OMG -

- it was just a matter of time until he glanced around to see me practically holding my pants up while jogging and we both immediately burst out into laughter. Oh yeah, these pants didn't have that nice tie-string adjustable waist, either...Man, how uncomfortable a feeling, yet how gosh darned SWEET that ish was - knowing all the work is really paying off - TOM or not, my waist is shrinkin away! I just HAD to blog about it...
Tonight, I think I may ice up a bit, just to keep these shins from flaring up any more.
Things are good - oh yeah - dh decided to take me out for a ride yesterday...while we were out, he was getting some texts from his biker buddies that they were hanging out at this bar so dh asked if I'd like to go hang out for a bit. I was so happy since it's been quite a while since he's had me around the boys - so that was fun and nice to feel included once again.
Th-th-that's all folks....for now!
Let's kick some major GRass this week, what do ya say??
xoxo
