Aye Aye Captain Tight Pants

Let me just start this by saying I have had a lovely holiday with my family. Everyone had a week off, and we visited with friends and family, shared presents, laughed, played games, and unlike last year, no cars died 40 miles from home.

It was pleasant, happy, wonderful times; everything you want from a vacation.

It was relaxing, maybe too relaxing... I took a good look in the mirror yesterday and what did I see: Is that a muffin top? Are my favorite jeans just a bit snug on the back side? Yep. That is what happens when you spend several months away from Sparkpeople AND the month of December NOT exercising. Of course I do not eat the way I did before I lost all the weight. But I hit that plateau at around 160 pounds and I made a decision to maintain my weight for awhile... one year later I can proudly say I kept most it off. But every since school started in September I have been getting lax in my “system” of exercise. I don't hang out at SP the way I used to. I don't walk everyday. I don't track my food. When I put away the Christmas tree I noticed my exercise mat behind the couch was dusty! For the last two years of Sparking my exercise mat has NEVER been dusty. OK, so my weight has not dramatically increased. We are talking about 8 pounds, more or less. More importantly, I notice the way my favorite clothes “don't” fit. At Christmas I couldn't button a skirt I wore last winter. I do NOT want to be obese again. So I decided that I needed to get back on track. I am digging out my winter exercise videos. I am back on SP tracking. I need the support of my sparkfriends. That is what I have been missing the last few months!

I am not a huge fan of New Years Resolutions, because traditionally it is easy to make and break promises to yourself. Instead I am making a daily goals checklist for my personal well-being.

My Daily Checklist includes healthy balanced eating, plenty of water, proper exercise, leisure time, project time, etc. I am currently working it out on my computer for myself, details will be forthcoming in a future blog.

Tomorrow the vacation is over as everyone heads back to school or work; otherwise known as the “regularly scheduled program”.

    Welcome back. It won't take long for you to get back into the sparks routine. You already know what to do and this bootcamp will help you get back into a routine of exercising. You can do it..dust off those walk shoes and get sparking.
