First Monday Comes W/Another First

I had my first 6am workout -- ever -- today. I did it, and it wasn't too bad. As my work schedule has gotten busier, my fitness program has majorly dwindled. With family commitments as well, it dawned on me that the only way I was going to get enough exercise in was to get up super early and head to the gym. Since I've never been a jump-out-of-bed, early riser kind of gal, I knew I'd be pretty out of it this morning -- major early-morning ADD, Alzheimer's-like symptoms here in the a.m. Therefore, I prepared. That really is such a critical tool toward succeeding in weight loss: prepare, prepare, prepare.

I spent most of yesterday evening getting ready for a super early morning, made a healthy lunch and snacks for myself, plus my daughter's school lunch. I also got as much of my breakfast ready as possible, chopping fruit in advance, cooking my oatmeal so all I'd have to do is warm it up in the morning. Then there was packing my gym bag, laying out my clothes for work, just everything I could think of. It worked out.

Now the challenge is to get my daughter out of bed. She's like her mom and, over these past three weeks of winter vacation, she has gotten reacquainted with her night owl tendencies. So far, she's at least gotten her clothes on. Off I go now to wake her up for the last time this morning. Wish me luck!

    Wow--you are on it, girl!

    I am going back to the gym today to see if I can reinstate my membership. Even if I just get 3 workouts in a week, it will be worth it. I need to exercise somewhere else besides home because I become distracted with the chores: dishes to put away, clothes to fold, papers to file, etc.

    i don't like to exercise early in the morning. at work though i do spend time on a treadmil. i get to walk for 2 hours at 2 mph first thing in the morning at work. it is a lot more fun than having to spend the whole time seated. i am not a fan of sitting still all day at work.

    WOO HOO YOU! I am not typically a morning person either, and I know how hard it is! GREAT JOB! Keep up the wonderful job you are doing at taking care of you!

    Yuck! I'm not a morning person either, unless you count staying up until 3 a.m. as morning.... :) They do say that exercising in the a.m. makes you loose more weight than if you exercise later in the day though. And I'm keeping that as my excuse for still being 30+ pounds over weight. Christmas had nothing to do with it. Nope, it's because I exercise in the afternoons....

    Congrats! I was never a morning person either until my job demanded it. It's a tough change - and to do it for your health is a just admirable.
