I have been off for awhile. I decided it was far to hard to keep on the right track during the holiday season. My family is huge and Italian! Food is every where all the time. I did keep going to my trainer 2-3 times a week, though.

My family does a pot luck type of dinner for Thanksgiving, and there was well over 30 people there, so you can imagine the amount of food and very little of it was in any way healthy. I did very well with my portion control, though. I was very proud of myself and my trainer was also proud of me.

Christmas has been the worst when it comes to food and temptation for me! My second year teaching and several students, parents and fellow teachers gave me yummy goodies for the holiday season. I did very well at first... but after passing up about 3 days worth of treats, I gave in. At first it was small samplings, and then it reared into larger and larger samples, until I was eating well above recommended portion sizes!!! I was/am disappointed in myself.

To top all this off, I live on the Eastern Shore of MD, and we just got blasted with snow. I have pretty much been snowed in for a couple of days and there is a lot of junk left in my cabinets. I know I will still be eating bad for the next couple of days, maybe I will start fresh for the new year. I know it sounds cliche. Wish me luck!

    The holidays can indeed be a rough time for us to try to eat smart and not be too tempted. Food is all around...seasonal favorites from when we were kids are the hardest to avoid and all the extra stress and chaos can put is in a free fall but by keeping up with our exercise, not being too hard on ourselves and keeping in mind out goals should be able to help. Remember none of us are perfect so to deny all the good stuff will only get you in the end. Try a bit...share the rest and we will make it through...we can do this!

    Well the first thought I had after I read the first sentence of this blog was "ya she has..... look at that halloween background"!
    Sometimes the best thing to do is just throw it all away (the junk food that is). Having stuff like that in my house is a total booby trap!

    I'm right there with you! I would justify my overeating but there's not point, I know that I'll just have get back on track after the holidays. emoticon

    I totally feel you with the food everywhere thing. I figure no use depriving yourself because you will only say to heck with it later and overdo it. I have this justification in my brain that says "if I eat it ALL now, then I can't cheat later because its all gone"
