Pre christmas party?

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Ok I will say pre-christmas party as it was something like that. This past saturday I had the honors of hosting the family gathering at my home. I knew the chances for beign home for christmas would be slim to non, so we had it early.
While plans had been made to come together as we all ways do, we pulled names for gifts as there are so many of us, and we know that money is tight ect... But then 5 days before all of this was to happen. I recieved news that my niece home had burned to the ground, everything was lost.

I was on the road at the time and making phone calls back and forth as we had decided to come up with something different than what we had been doing. I decided that instead of us being focused on buying each other this year , let's just bless the niece. Everyone pulled up there selves and did what was asked of them. It was just awsome.

Now this is what we had. I had a table (suprised everyone) with a center piece of fruit that set in this beautiful fruit three step round trays. filled with fruits and nuts. Then on the side there were like cheese and meat trays with assorted crackers, another fruit bowel, someone had brought a large thing of pasta salad, baked chicken deviled eggs. drinks. The daughter had baked teacakes and cookies I fixed a syrup cake. It was cold out so the main dish was southren gumbo.

Ok with all of this said, This is how I handle it. I keep myself busy with making sure all went well. This helped me to not reach for things that was so high in cal. When I did get to eat, I chose a small saucer. and put like fruit, pasta sald, an egg you know small but yet enought. I didn't eat any gumbo at all that night, as I had a teacake and one or two of those cookies. I wanted to do it but not over do it. I was pleased with my choices that night, because I learned that you can have your cake and eat it too, you just don't have to eat the whole thing(hahhhahah).

The next day I did get to eat the gumbo as this was my plan to do, everything was good and all went better than I expected, I had about 30 members of my family here it was just good to see them and be with them for the time we had. Now I'm moving on to what I have to do next.
