Mini Update

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

Whew, I haven't blogged in awhile, I'm sorry! You'll see why in a quick minute.

The first half of the month was spent on holiday parties. I planned a HUGE one for Forty Plus of Central Ohio. About fifty people came out for it, and we raised $150. Not a lot, but it was our first try at fundraising in this instance too. There were two raffles, and a pie-throwing competition. I threw a few pies myself (the whole things was a board members idea!) and the one hit him square in the face, it was awesome!!!! Everyone had a great time, and I'm really proud of myself- my biggest solo event yet!

That same week was Dennis Hyundai's corporate party, too. They only have one every few years apparently, so it was a must do for Nick. I drank the most I ever have in my life; two cocktails, a glass of champagne, and four shots X_X I'm not a big drinker, but I did get pretty silly. But I didn't drink to excess, get drunk, or have a hangover, and I was plenty safe to drive home by the end of the night. Nick got really fashunkered and then had to work the next day (at 11). I love teasing him about how funny he gets drunk; he's super apologetic and constantly tries to prove he's not drunk (like counting stairs and doing math), and this time especially he kept saying," I love you, Kate." which was super funny- what was with saying my name? He had to confirm he knew he was saying it to me? lol.

Then I got sick, and am still sick! It felt like a cold, but then it got worse and wasn't getting any better at all. Finally went to the clinic yesterday, and I have a sinus infection PLUS acute bronchitis. Woooo, happy holidays! I've been sick for ten days now. I'm still blowing my nose like crazy, there's pressure on my ears, and my cough is super dry, but with the inhaler plus antibiotics, I can tell I am getting better. Oh, and I still sound a bit like a frog, sweet! But it should be fantastic in time for Christmas! My mom and brother with his +1 are coming over Christmas Eve and we're making the huge package of Omaha Steaks Nick's parents sent us.

Special shout out to Beckie from Weight Loss Warriors, who aside from being awesome and sending everyone Christmas Cards, was also my Secret Santa. I opened the gift already, yes I suck at waiting, but I was also drugged up on my Robatussin with codeine when I did it (I was so silly, omg). She gave me *the* fuzziest scarf, white and multiple shades of purple stripes, and a gift card to Borders! I'm pondering finally purchasing a copy of Team of Rivals with it; the sesquicentennial of the Civil War starts next year, and this book is actually an incredible resource for the time period! Plus, it's one of the few books to mention the Blair family, I'm such a fan girl- all because I want to work at Blair House.

Well, the Robatussin with codeine is finally setting in, time to pass out in bed- and not cough!!!!! emoticon Happy holidays!!!

Glad your event was a success. Maybe we should put you in charge of a Columbus Spark get together?!

I've been sick with this bug that's going around. Just got antibiotics last night to knock out the sinus infection.

Hope you have a happy, healthy Christmas season!
