you can't win

does anyone else feel like you just can't win the eating healthy game?
for instance, last night I was all excited about making jambalaya with the reduced sodium mix and turkey smoked sausage -- how could i go wrong? then I go to enter the recipe, and lo and behold, turkey smoked sausage has 770 mg of sodium in 2 ounces. That's more than half the box of jambalaya mix. So my 250 calorie dinner has 1200 mg of sodium!
It seems like for every healthy choice, there's a negative to it as well. I don't mind it all the time, but don't you hate it when you make one "healthy" choice, and there's always someone there to tell you what's bad about it.
low fat foods are high in sugar. reduced sugar foods are high in fat.
don't drink regular coke, it's full of sugar; don't drink diet soda, the artificial sweetners make you gain weight.
Saturated fats used to be the evil one, so companies switched to trans fats, which we now know will kill us.
Drink more water; oh, but if your water is hard, it can give you kidney stones.
I eat a light yogurt, and there's always someone who says, it's really not good to eat the fat free yogurt; you should get the regular yogurt. but the regular yogurt fruit flavors are full of sugar!
eat lots of fiber, but oh wait, some foods have chemically created fiber in it instead of natural fiber.
just when we thought exercise was safe, time magazine runs article about how exercise can keep you from losing weight!
I can't keep track of it all. so I give up. I'm going to do what makes my body feel good.
Exercise makes me feel good.
Drinking water makes me feel good.
Fiber in my diet really does make me feel good.
Sometimes, a small piece of dark chocolate makes my day better and keeps me from going to burger king on my way home.
And eating that jambalaya last night made me feel really good. it was the perfect end to a cold, wintery day. so i'll just take the extra sodium and drink some more water.
