Wake Up

Monday, December 13, 2010

This morning I planned to get up before work and do an exercise video....one of the new exercise videos I just purchased that I haven't gotten a chance to use yet. Unfortunately I slept in. I had a whole list of excuses as my alarm went off over and over and each time I hit the snooze button. I ended up hitting the snooze button 9 times before I finally got up and that was only because it was time to get ready for work. I told myself that I was too tired, I had stayed up too late last night, it was snowing and needed a jump start on the drive into work (even though I still didn't leave early!). As I'm sitting here thinking back, those excuses seemed really valid at the time but now they just seem silly. Of course I was tired, it was 5am....who isn't tired at 5am!? But I know that if I can just get up and get moving I'll wake up and will actually feel better throughout the day. Since I didn't get up early this morning I'll have to workout after work today which will suck because I'll be rushing around walking the dog, buying groceries, buying Christmas decorations and making dinner only to add a workout ontop of all that! I really should've gotten up at 5am!

It's just one day. Try not to be so hard on yourself. So, you could have made a different decision this morning. You didn't. That's okay. Now, you can do it tonight.

For me, once I stopped beating myself up (I should have! I can't believe I didn't!), I started succeeding. Now, I wake up at 4:30 twice a week for my workouts and I love it! I can't imagine not doing it. But it's a habit I had to build.

Deep breaths - just make sure your next decision is one that helps you toward your goals!
