I hear voices..

...specifically SparkPeople blog and article voices. Sunday morning, much earlier than I am accustomed to rising, I hear my DH remarking that it is pouring outside. He adds that with the cold we've been having, he is sure that the roads are icy. He reminds me that last night I slathered my leg with Bengay before I wrapped it in an ace bandage, and that he thinks I should take it easy. The bed is so warm and cozy, a wonderful refuge, a perfect foil to the torrential downpour pounding at the window, but somewhere under those covers is the lady on a mission that I have become. I try to sink back into the warm, softness rationalizing that DH has some very valid points, but then it happens. I start to hear voices, snippets of blogs and articles that I have read on SparkPeople. They are stored in my subconcious and arise to help me reach my goal. It begins with the article I read 11 months ago! It was called "Arm Yourself Against Exercise Excuses." I hear this and realize that I am already out of bed. Then I hear more voices spouting facts like, "Exercising early in the morning "jump starts" your metabolism, keeping it elevated for hours, sometimes for up to 24 hours! As a result, you’ll be burning more calories all day long—just because you exercised in the morning." By this time, I am fully dressed in my workout clothes, I am bounding down the stairs, filling my water bottle, in my car and on my way to Zumba class. I'm late. I should probably just turn around and go home, but then the voices start again. Voices from various blogs urging me to go on, voices of people who have been and are where I am. People who pushed and persevered. I keep driving. No parking spots - arggghhh! There's one but it will be a bit of a walk. (You are there to exercise - so walk!) Up the 2 flights of stairs, bolt through the door and am greeted with smiles. I join the ranks and begin moving to the music as though I hadn't missed a beat. I feel exhilarated! Thank you voices. Keep coming, keep blogging, and share your ups and downs. You have no idea the power your voices possess. www.sparkpeople.com/reso
