My half marathon

Tuesday, December 07, 2010

The Rock n Roll Marathon in Las Vegas was awesome! There were over 30,000 people in the race. Lots of energy, people dressed up, bands along the way, fun, fun, fun!

I ran a little, walked more. My time was somewhere between 3:30 and 3:40 – not very good, but I was out there nonetheless. That was with 4 potty breaks – and when you’re out there with the Crohn’s and Colitis Team, that meant long lines :).

It was funny being in the back – no coaches to check on you, bands were packing up, water stations were closing down, random people just crossing the street in front of you – but it felt great! It made me realize how I was truly out there for ME, and despite all this I was still chugging along, and working on becoming healthy!

So now I have the bug... I have two more half marathons that I would like to do. One in DC in March, and one in MT in July. I have to qualify for these, so will be working hard the next few months to keep up my workouts and do qualifying runs. It is always nice to have a goal! emoticon

    You DID IT!!! Celebrate!!!
I did my first in about the same time and am still amazed - keep thinking, "I did a 5K...and 10 more miles!" Proudly displaying my pink 13.1 sticker on my car now (and finding fewer reasons to drive, now that I can walk or run longer distances, emoticon )
Keep training and I bet you will qualify for those HMs in 2011. emoticon emoticon emoticon
