Thirsty and Hungry

Monday, December 06, 2010

Yesterday, my Pastor preached a message about being thirsty and hungry for God. That we need to have a appetite for God and his word. That the same way we hunger for certain foods or things..and we need to change that hunger and thirst to the things of God. And this morning as I think about what to eat and drink for breakfast... I realize that I don't always give God the Glory that he is due. and I realize that we are truly bless, that we are able to eat and drink whatever our hearts desire and that we need to be grateful for that, but to also eat to live and stop living to eat. And that we won't starve if we turn over a plate, and use that time to mediate on the word of God. and That I should love God enough to turn over a plate to be in his presence. So I delight in the word today..and I'm glad that I'm starting to have control over my appetite and not allow my appetite to control me. emoticon

Thank you for sharing that word and as a reminder to me. I did a bible study about a year ago, well I've done it twice called Setting Captives Free it's a weight loss/behavior change study (they have different ones for different habits). It talks about the same thing you mentioned. That sometimes the void we're trying to fill can only be filled with God and not food. It's a good study if you're interested. I think I'll pull it out again I need a refresher. It helped me when I was working on my weight previously (loss 40 pounds). You can do it online as well (it's free) and you have a counselor that emails you as well. You can also purchase the study as well. Thanks for the reminder and may your journey be blessed.
