I'd like to write daily but geez I've been so busy I can hardly find time to write at all! And it's been so long since I've visited the blogs of my sparkfriends and the threads of my teams, but one thing at a time!
I'm doing well with my 1200 calorie per day plan. My calculations seem like they are correct and I am losing at the rate I figured would work for me, although it is still much too slow and I am eating much too little while working much too hard at it, but at least I am losing! I got on the scale yesterday and was 180.8 which means in almost 2 months of sustained effort I have lost 4.2 pounds. I did not drop to 1200 calories though until Nov 13 so hopefully I will start losing more quickly than that!
Even though I am doing well I had unusually high days for the past two days ... Aunt Flo arrived and I am really exhausted, overly tired. But even with that my calorie average since Nov 13 is 1246 per day, and I will work to bring that back down closer to 1200.
I have been keeping up with my exercising, with walking about an hour a day plus 30 minutes on the exercise bike and strength training daily, too. I'm getting up at 5 am right now, walking the dog, leaving for work at 6:30. I try to take at least a 20 minute walk on my lunch hour though downtown Oakland isn't nearly as nice for walking as my park back in Michigan, but Lake Merritt is okay. I leave work at 4 and get home close to 5, then change my clothes and go work out in the gym. I'm done with that close to 6 then need to walk the dog again and make dinner. Sweet D has been working late a lot so I've been having a salad around 6 pm so I am not completely starving by the time we eat dinner at 7:30 or 8 pm. But I make dinner and do some FlyLady chores around the house: laundry, empty the dishwasher, clean off the hots spots, pack lunch for the next day, etc. I usually don't sit down to relax until 8:30 or 9 pm and since I have to get up at 5 am I haven't had much time for doing anything on the computer other than entering my food and exercise and transferring my totals to my spreadsheet. I don't know how people with kids manage! I barely have time to take care of myself!
I did sign up for a CSA program (Community Supported Agriculture) which delivers fresh produce straight from the farm to my front door. We got our first box of fruits and veggies yesterday. They have many different options and I chose a basic fruit and veggie mix that will be delivered every other week and will vary in contents based on what's in season. Living in California means there is a lot of things in season, even in December! In this week's box there was: collard greens, carrots, leeks, baby bok choy, spinach, arugula, red leaf lettuce, oranges, Pink Lady and Fuji apples, pears, romanesco, a butternut squash, and red onion. I am very excited about this program and I think it will be fun trying to use all of this produce in different ways! For lunch today I roasted a leek and some carrots in a little bit of olive oil. It was delicious! I also ordered myself a salad spinner because with all of these greens I really need something to help me in that department! I'm glad I set it up for every other week because I don't think we could eat all of this in a week, even though we eat a lot of fruits and veggies around here!
