I just finished reading the latest blog entry from BOTZZZ. If you don't know who BOTZZZ is then you need to check out his page/blog. He is an amazing inspiration to me with his weight loss progress and his in your face honesty about how he's gotten as far as he has. His latest blog can be found here www.sparkpeople.com/mypa

The thing that inspired me today was this statement that he made. "Its a mental thing but then that's what losing weight is all about..." I find that this is SO true for me. Losing weight is not about counting calories, or what exercise program I am on. It's about my state-of-mind. Why do I avoid working out? It's because I can't convince myself it's worth it (state-of-mind). Why do I binge and make poor nutrition choices? It's because I convince myself that it doesn't matter, or I'll do better tomorrow, or something is bothering me that just makes me want to eat (state-of-mind). I've found the same is true for when things are going well. If I'm working out regularly, I have the mental focus to get my lazy rear out of bed and get to the gym. If I make good nutritional choices, then I have the attitude that the junk food isn't worth the consequence. Again, it's all state-of-mind.

Success in this journey for me is not about diet and physical exercise, it's about mental exercise. It's about mastering my emotions and focusing on the goal. In short, it's just a mindgame. When I do this, everything else just falls in line.

    When I started what I did, I knew I was overweight. I knew that in order for me to feel good again, I would have to lose a great deal of that weight I was carrying. My first goal was not to lose "X" amount of pounds. My first goal was to feel good again.

    To do that, I realized there was a formula I had to follow. I set the numbers and took emotion (as well as I could) out of the equation. That has laid the foundation for what and who I am now.

    The statement that I quoted kind of rung close to me as I haven't "dieted" in nearly 9 years. Success is following your plan and making minor adjustments depending on the circumstances that life throws at you.

    Sweetie, really enjoyed reading your blog, and I agree with you our weight loss journey is truly a mind game.

    I find there are times I mentally fighting with myself over what I should or should not put in my mouth ,or the mindset of doing exercises without excuses

    If we can control our thinking, we can control what we eat
