I'm a little bummed...

Thursday, December 02, 2010

Even though Monday was relatively nice, I was completely exhausted. The weather yesterday was overcast and drizzly and today has been awful; raining most of the day, with high winds. Such weather does very little for my mood or my body, I'm very ache-y and still pretty fatigued and it makes it difficult to get out to the pool and keep moving on the exercise front.

I was able to get in some exercise using a couple of the exercise dvd's that I've invested in, "Chair Dancing" "Sit and Be Fit", plus the free "Active MS" dvd that was mentioned in several blogs of members of Doin' It With MS Team.

My dog, Meka, who just had the stitches removed from his ear on the 19th, after surgery for his aural hematoma, has had a recurrence. His ear flap was once again swelling, so we went to the vet on Monday the 29th and they lanced it once again, but it is recurring again, even now.

There is still one more procedure that they might try before recommending another surgery, so we'll be going in next Monday to consider that. If that procedure doesn't do it, I don't know how much benefit there would be in a second surgery, that all needs to be discussed.

On the positive side, we've come to the end of the useful life of Thanksgiving leftovers yesterday with some turkey enchiladas, pictured below:

Here are a couple of other food "still life" photos taken by my husband, David:

I'm hoping that blue (or bluer) skies will bring an increase in energy and that the weekend will bring more clarity about how to deal with the "great ear decision".

What helps you keep going or get back on track?

It will. Stick with it, you can do it!
WE can do it! Been slipping lately, now just taking it one day at the time! Must be the winter chill that makes me want to camp in the kitchen - I fight , do my best...some days it's working, others it's not...baby steps
I know the horror of a sick dog - mine gulped a ball last winter and it was a really close call! Thank goodness she menaged to vomit it the third day! It was the most devostating time! Wishing you and Meka only the happy ending!!!! emoticon

You must be agonizing over you beloved pet. I know I was worried sick when Zhanne was hurt. This was almost 2 years ago and she still will not climb the stairs. I hope everything works out for you dog.

I know what you mean about the weather. Today it is sunny here in upstate NY but it is brrr cold!!! I did manage to get to the gym sore ache and pains and all. But I took a spinning class. I am not ready to take a swimming class yet. I did some in my own pool over the summer and loved it. But by the time we shut down the pool I was ready to switch up exercise routines. And now it is just to cold for this wimpy girl! Maybe you should take a yoga class or strengthen class just to switch things up and the weather won't matter much. The bones won't feel the same chill.

I hope you come out of you "bummed" state soon!

Sorry to hear about Meka. Hopefully the non-surgical procedure will work. We are back to being bright and sunny here but now it's just really cold. I'm going out later and going to be bundled up.

Sorry your dog is having such problems.
Aren't you glad you are done with the turkey?
