Black Friday is for the Pros!! Novices Beware!!

Friday, November 26, 2010

For the first time ever in my life, I decided to hit the Black Friday sales. Since Walmart's sales started at midnight and I was leaving a friends house after 11pm, it seemed a good idea. I didnt really know what the sales were so I went home first to get an idea of what to look for. List in hand, I headed to Walmart. Rule 1, get there before it actually starts. I had to go in the parking lot to hunt for a shopping cart. emoticon
Well, I was off, no idea where the things were located and no idea how to maneuver the shopping cart around the huge crowds and the stuff in the aisles. I did manage to get a couple of things but it was only the things that were not the most desired. Fortunately I didnt want a laptop or TV because I would not have been prepared for the 5 hour wait in line for those things. Next came the getting around the people with completely full carts who were on the phone talking about their haul and what is left for the folks on the other end.
My original plan was to take this stuff home then go back home to research other things on sale. When I got home, I knew I was not going back out. I wanted to go to bed emoticon and be ready for the gym. emoticon
I didnt plan ahead, so i had no clue what I was doing or how to get it all done. i failed to plan, so I planned to fail.
My friend the pro, did get some really good deals. emoticon
I will be ready next year. emoticon

This year was the first time in a few years that I haven't gone out on Black Friday. It was great to sleep in, but I must admit I did miss the rush of adrenaline in going out and getting the good deals.

You are definitely right, you need a plan and a good buddy. My friend and I usually have a game plan and the spouses even get involved. With the right people it is fun and exhausting!

    Better luck next year soror!

I've done it before but I had my game plan ahead of time. I didn't go this year but my MIL and SIL did. Make sure you prepare if you decide to go next year :)

Sounds a bit crazy if you ask me! We don't have anything like Black Friday although I hear some stores do have some wickedly good Boxing Day sales.

I'd so much rather just shop online, no matter how good the deals may be! A 5 hr wait? Are people crazy?

AHH YES!! The dreaded black friday sales. If you have never done that before, then you WERE in for a treat with all the people. Apparently I got there in time for the 5:00 a.m. electronic sales. My girls and I arrived at 2:30 a.m. I wanted the Ipod touch and asked for it and got a bracelet for it ans was told to come back at 5 or after, but before 6. The bracelets they handed out were gone by 4:55 a.m. Had I arrived for one at 5 for one and they were gone, I would have been VERY upset, because the sale didn't start until 5. Happy shopping for next year now that you are a pro.
