tests needed

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

As expected, tests are needed to figure out what's going on with me. The person I went to was really nice. Since it's obvious that I'm not pregnant she does think we need to test for PCOS. There are two options which are both questionable because I have no health insurance.

1. blood tests (serum prolactin, FSH, thyrotropin) are rather pricey. Over 400 dollars for the first 2 and the last one is going to be 100 or so.

2. ultrasound - still checking on the price but we might go with this option because it will know for sure that if it's PCOS while the blood tests rule out other things for the most part.

Good part is it won't be hard to get in for the test. Stepdad works at hospital and they aren't busy this week. Just need to find out for sure. Wish I had health insurance but if I do have the condition when I need to do more, I'll be married by then and on his plan. For now I have to settle with what I can afford.

Yeah. I'm not sure how it all works. Cause I don't know if I have the condition or how diagnosis will change things. Will have to wait and see or wait and not know of any condition if it is there.

You have to concern your self with preexisting condition when you get insurance.

You may need to see if you can pay in installments. When I had laser surgery on my eye, I didn't have insurance either. The hospital was kind enough to set up payments based on my income (or lack thereof).
