Number Changes and Beating the Holiday Season

So I have decided to adjust my starting weight to what my highest weight was a few years ago. That was 248 pounds. I decided to change it since my weight loss journey really did start back then. I am not looking for credit so people can tell me what I great job I have done but instead a reminder for myself of how far I have come regardless of how long it has taken up until this point.

A few years back I weighed myself and was devastated to learn I was almost 250 pounds. On a personal level it really was devastating for me. 248 pounds put me over 100 pounds over weight. I was not big growing up. My weight gain didn't happen till I was in my 20's when food became a coping mechanism for me. I could not believe how far I had let things get out of control. I woke up a few days later and just decided I didn't want to be fat anymore. And I set goals for myself, I worked out more, I ate better and before I knew it I had lost close to 50 pounds. But before I knew it Christmas time arrived and I fell off the wagon, ate the wagon and have been trying to get back on ever since.

Yes I have lost 42 pounds since I woke up that morning. Yes that is a great accomplishment. BUT it is also a reminder of how far I still have to go and how much time I have wasted talking instead of doing. So NO MORE TALKING! Time to get off my butt and stay off my butt. With the holidays fast approaching I need to work harder than ever to keep going in the right direction. I am finally starting to sort of believe that I can actually do this and I fully intend to show Christmas who is boss. Do I intend to enjoy the treats I love during the holiday season? Absolutely!! But this time around I will not let it destroy all I have worked for to this point. I will not let my weakness define me.

I have to confess...I had every intention of having a diet free December...but after our little discussion the other day about what happened to you when you decided to take a break over the holidays I changed my mind. The threat from you to punch me in the face might also have had something to do with the change of heart as well, but that is neither here nor there.

The outcome is still the same...I will enjoy the holidays and all of my favorite edibles...I will just remember that I still love me more than I love the food. I must REALLY love me though because I love food A LOT...lol!

Thanks for inspiring me to be my best...even through the holidays!! We can do it!

Great philosophy! The tracker is a good idea. I decided a while back, that its there to work for me - so I set it to a smaller goal amount, and I intend to change the tracker's start & goal, as well as how it looks, every time I get to a mini goal.

Sounds like this Christmas will be a tough one for you too. It's my first at spark, but guess what? Like you, I think I can do it. With all of us together facing the same problem, I think we should hold each other accountable this time around. Good plan to embrace moderation!
