Changing Things Up a Bit

Back in February, my family and I joined the YMCA. At that time, we were going about three times per week. I was doing strength training along with 30-45 minutes of cardio/cross-training. Then hubby and I started our running training in April. We were getting to the Y two nights a week and running two nights/1 weekend day. We continued this through the summer, for the most part. Then, I started my fall semester. This caused a shift in our schedule & my availability. My Monday night class interfered with going to the Y and my Thursday night class interfered with our usual run. Since September, I've only been getting to the Y on Wednesday nights with my family where I do strength training and my PunkRope class for cardio/cross-training. Hubby and I have been running on Tuesday/Friday nights with a long-run on Sunday.
When I started at the Y, they set me up with a strength training program and I've gradually increased my weight & reps over time. However, I'm getting bored with doing the same exercises, even if I change the order I'm doing them. I think it's time to switch out some exercises with new machines.
Overhead press--> Lat Pull Down
Chest press--> Pec Flys
Add in: Assisted Dips & Assisted Pull-ups
I'd consider tossing the back extention and ab crunch machines in lieu of doing floor exercises (Supermans, varied ab exercises) using a stability ball, but I don't trust myself to do it at home.
If we renew our membership in January, I'm going to make an appointment for a personal training session to set-up a mostly free-weights-based program.
Starting this week, I'm going to the Y on Monday and Friday during the day by myself to get my workout in and on Wednesday nights with my family. This way, I'll be sure to get my three strength-training sessions and three cardio/cross-training sessions in. I'm also going to talk with the fitness center staff to come up with changes for my strength program.
Also, if hubby and I decide to start tri or duathalon-training next year, I'll need to start adding in biking and swimming into the mix.
Thoughts or suggestions, oh wise SparkFriends?
