I need a morning routine

I feel real tight...and I'm not talkin about my ass!!!

I've been working out regularly, and taking pretty darn good care of myself. And yes, I DO stretch after I work out...however maybe not enough?

Every morning I wake up, and I walk around like an old lady. Everything hurts, and just feels...tight.

Do any of you have a good morning routine to recommend to get my body going for the day? I think I need to do some stretches or yoga or something....but it needs to be easy, and quick. Any suggestions?

back in college i bought a beginners pilates dvd, and it had a 12-minute energy-boost routine on it. it was a really awesome combination of stretching and a little bit of a strength routine for first thing in the morning. i could email you the steps, if you wanted...

Doing a few sun salutations is a great, thorough and effective morning stretch. Another thing to consider is to get a foam roller to release muscle tension after working out as well as in the morning to help break up the lactic acid that accumulates after a challenging workout. Also, for me personally, I really really like stretches for the hip flexors and IT band. Focusing on stretching those muscles is helping with my running form and also helps me recover from workouts faster - yay!

I wonder if Missy has a good PT stretching routine for overall stiffness or a routine that focuses on the parts of your body that feel tight when you get up in the morning?

The easiest way for me to work out stiffness is to move around the next day and to not sit too long at a time - which can be challenging as I currently have a desk job!

Good luck tailoring your stretching routine to keep up with your rocking workout schedule, Becky!
