Lifetime Momentum #15

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Wow has it been a long time since I've been here at SparkPeople and even longer since I've blogged. I get very frustrated with myself when I end up in these starts and stops. I have had a really busy summer, but that is NO excuse to neglect my health and lifestyle choices the way it has.

Since I last blogged I did receive a new job. I had to take a contracting position to start with as the company doesn't hire anyone full-time directly. This meant 8 months of no benefits. That all changed two weeks ago though when the company hired me on as a full-time employee. All my hard work here has paid off, but there are things that suffer when you spend between 8-12 hours a day in front of a computer.

After getting the job as a contractor, I did get a month-to-month membership at a big-chain gym so that I could continue my swimming regimine. Unfortunately, I really didn't like the facility or the people and tended not to go as often as I should have, or work out as long as I should have while I was there. It was also closer to work than home so it wasn't convenient for me to go whenever the urge hit. I also let my nutrition suffer during this time.

I have been looking at my full-time employment as a chance to hit the reset button. I rewarded myself by dumping the membership to the meat-market and joined a small but REAllY NICE health club close to my house. It has a very nice pool and the rest of the facilities are excellent. I am finding myself looking forward to working out. It is also very close to home (a luxury I haven't had in years) so I'm finding myself going when I have some downtime, not just on the way to work.

Anyway, enough rambling for one day.

Never Stop Moving!
