140 Days and Counting

Monday, November 15, 2010

Sunday was 140 days, 20 weeks without soda. I wish I could say it's no longer a struggle, that it's easy now. But that would be a lie. It's not always a struggle, but the cravings still crop up. You may wonder why this is a big deal. Perhaps you can have a little bit here and there. I can't seem to do that. If I have one, I want another one. One about once a month becomes one a week becomes one a day becomes two a day becomes three a day. (Usually it stops about there, when I TRY to turn things around again.) And it seems that when I'm drinking soda, my eating habits are poorer as well. So I've had to cut it out of my life for now. And I'm succeeding. Yay! But this battle is not won; it's ongoing.

emoticon on your accomplishment. I was without soda for months and have started having one on occasion again. At least it is caffeine free. emoticon emoticon

You're doing great on this one!! And don't worry--you're not alone on the 'it doesn't necessarily get easier' thing either. As I say often, I believe it's just like an alcoholic cannot have another drink or there will be trouble. For many people, the same is true with food/beverages. As I am going through this journey, I often think of it as 'being sober'--one day at a time--heck, one meal at a time!

I have had little soda for 6 months. I usually "cheat" a few times a month and, thank goodness, it has not hurt anything.
