Glorious Morning

This has been such an amazingly beautiful autumn here in the Midwest. The colors surrounding me are so vibrant ! I sit here with my cup of coffee and am speechless in the display that greets me today.

On that 'other' topic, I finally got batteries for my scale. Lo and behold, in the past three weeks I lost a few pounds. I snuck into the 180's by half a pound. I'll take it ! I have struggled with this lack of confirmation by the dreaded scale. I even banished it to an upstairs bathroom where I don't see it every day. In my heart of hearts I realize that the weight will come off if I just 'stay the course'. I'm pretty sure that the wonderful weather we are enjoying here and the nice long walks with my pup ( Chu Li is 6 years old, but I don't think she knows it), are playing a big part in the downward slope of my report !

HOWEVER, I am heading into dangerous waters. On Thursday I leave for California and Nevada. I will be staying with the most wonderful children a mother could ever love. Their homes are filled with grandkids from 18 months to 24 years. Every range of human 'goodies' will be represented, from mashed banana to Bailey's and coffee..... throw in turkey feasting in each state, daughters and daughters in law who love to cook and I anticipate much 'breaking of bread ! The holidays come around every year, this year I am ready for them. I plan to munch on a lot of celery and take tiny (!) bites of calorie rich , butter heavy, thickly sweetened treats. Sitting here today, I am ready for the challenge.

This is my choice, I decide, and I have enjoyed many, many treats in my day. They have helped me get to this point. The time when I can honestly say "No thank you" ! Days when I can sit back comfortably while others groan from indulgence. I will be such a wonderful gramma when I offer teenaged grandsons my portion of pies, cookies, and home made candies. Little do they know what a big favor they do when they raid the fridge at night ! Oh yes ! It's the holiday season and I will glide right through it.......

I am so thankful to all of my Spark friends, every day... in fact especially on ordinary days . I treasure our 'conversations' and pray that you are blessed in every way !

Sounds much like what I will be facing next week when I visit my brother and my folks in Arizona! Then to my oldest sons for Christmas. I'm thinking control, control, control! We CAN do this!
Meanwhile, we're expecting snow here in South Dakota tonight, so it will be an end to OUR beautiful fall weather.
Have a wonderful time on your trip!
(Oh and I agree with Maia about the Bailey's!)

I hope the 18 month old is sticking with the mashed banana and foregoing the Bailey's. Have a great trip!
